In The Wee Hours Of The Night

December 7th, 2010

Sunrise

In the wee hours of the night, when the entire world (or at least my slice of it) is silent,
I find myself wide awake and my mind starts shouting.
Thoughts and worries and judgements are flooding me from within, loudly voicing their disapproval.
I toss and turn and try to shut them off but they stubbornly resurface, obnoxiously and selfishly.
I try to sleep only to become more and more alert.
I think about everything I have to do and everything I should have done but haven’t.
I want to be the one that does it all, effortlessly.
I want to sleep through the night without a worry in mind.
But I am not that person and I can’t.
I have so much in life.
Most of it is love.
Wonderful and pure love.
I am so grateful for that.
But all I can think about is the bads and the wrongs and the can-nots.
Mornings are so beautiful, so pristine – but I’m dreading my mornings again.
Dreading the work I have ahead of me and work I must put on the back burner for a while.
I try to stay awake as long as I can, as late as my eyes can keep open.
I try to weary myself, to bring myself to exhaustion.
I try everything I can to keep me from waking up in the middle of the night when everything is silent.
But I can’t.
Thus, in the wee hours of the night, when everything is silent,
My mind starts screaming out loud.

How are your wee hours of the night? Does your mind starts shouting whenever silence spreads around?

Face Your Fear

Face Your Fear

Journaling Reads

I never believed I will be ziplining at over 50 mph, just flying between heaven and earth until November 24, 2010. The day I did it. At the first zip line my heart skipped a beat and I felt a shortage of breath, mainly because of the speed. However, on the first actual track I just enjoyed the breathtaking views and was amused that after Nadav had asked if it’s possible to stop before reaching the break, it was me who stopped and started going backwards, followed by the instructor who kept throwing the rope and I kept avoiding it, until I understood it’s the only way I can reach base… It was fun and it was fulfilling. I can always trust Nadav to afford me these once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Have you faced any of your fears recently? It seems like I am developing a pattern here… All thanks to my dear husband.

Stylish Blogger Award

December 4th, 2010

Hey everyone!

Stylish Blog AwardDuring my recent vacation I had received an e-mail from Michelle of “A Creative Operation” blog telling me they granted me a “Stylish Blogger Award”.

I was so honored to get that award, especially from a couple of super talented ladies, such as Jackie and Michelle.

Unfortunately, as I was not at home at the time and my connectivity was very limited I couldn’t participate by the rules.

Now that I’m home I wanted to say thanks.

I am really grateful for that gesture and cherish your award and vote of appreciation.

Sometimes, it’s the small things that make everything worth while 🙂

I Am Back From Aloha Land

December 3rd, 2010

Maui, Hawaii

Hi everyone,

I have been away…

For the last 10 days I have been in Maui, Hawaii and just came back today.

It was wonderful!

We were hiking – to the edge of our (or my) abilities (12 miles hike from dawn till afternoon).
We were ziplining, hanging between heaven and earth.
We were hanging at the beach, reading and bathing in the cool ocean water as well as the warm sun rays.
We had great food with wonderful traditional songs and costumes.
We were climbing mountains and going down deep craters.
We walked on black sand beaches and red sand beaches, created by the volcano eruptions.
We walked through bamboo forests and lush vegetation.
We saw numerous rainbows – half rainbows, full rainbows and even double rainbows.

We had a blast and now I need a vacation from my vacation…

Though I don’t get to have one.

I have another personal challenge ahead of me and it will be time consuming and nerve-wracking, all over again.

However, I have a ton of renewed energy and high spirits.

I hope you all have been doing great!

I missed you.

Creativity Prompt – Write Your Journaling With Letter Stickers

November 24th, 2010

Hoover Dam Layout

I am now working on my Las Vegas trip album. We went there last year and travelled around a little bit.

We were truly inspired by the story behind the Hoover Dam and I wanted to highlight the story in my album.

That’s why I decided to write down the story using letter stickers. It really emphasizes the story portion of the layout.

The micro mono stickers by Basic Grey are PERFECT for the job. They are small enough to stay in proportion and there are multiple stickers of each letter – both lowercase and capital letters. You really get a ton of stickers per sheet – and in the rare case you run out of a letter (like I ran out of ‘d’s) it is really simple to cut around the letter and use its outline instead, which also add a nice graphic element to the journaling.

Give it a try!

Side Note

Check out how I tucked in the ticket to the power plant tour underneath the picture on the left side of the layout. I do that a lot to keep souvenirs from my trip. All I do is apply the adhesive just to 3 edges of the photo, so it creates a pocket. If the ticket is on the smaller side, I add a strip of adhesive in the middle, to keep the ephemera from getting buried inside the photo pocket.

Supply

  • Background paper: Cloud 9 Design by Colorbok
  • Letter stickers:

Friday Freebie – Universal Numbered Tags

November 19th, 2010

Free Journaling Labels
This week I am sharing a set of Universal numbered tags with you guys (for personal use only).

To download it simply click on the image (or the link) and if it doesn’t work try to right-click on it and opt for the “save target as…” option (it may be phrased a bit differently on different operating systems – but do NOT opt for the “save image as” option, as you will get the low resolution tiny preview image).

This set is especially cool because you can use it for practically anything: December Daily, Hanukkah daily, everyday life, birthdays, special days, lists, important numbers in your life, days of the week, month, etc… Your imagination is the limit and I truly hope you like them and have lots and lots and lots of fun with these tags.

To cut them off, simply use a 1¼” circle punch or a bigger punch, if you want a white border around. You can also use the scallop punch for an added flair, but in this case you will need to print it twice to get them all “scalloped” plus the last tag has a smaller border, so you won’t be able to punch it with the scallop punch.
